FCL’s Men’s Ministry group gathers monthly to turn our attention toward what scripture says about biblical manhood.

The Scriptures call New Testament church believers to persevere for God’s glory in the world!

“But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” (1 Timothy 6:11-12)

“Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.

Be subject for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme, or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good.

For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God. Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.” (1 Peter 2:11-17)

This all seems a far cry from what our culture aggressively pursues as we are taught to fight for anything that may better our personal comfort and status. Our culture tells us to fight to be accepted in a better school, to have a better car or home, to obtain a more lucrative position, to be able to retire early, and especially to maintain our cherished personal “rights”. But the Bible’s description of the “good fight” is much different.

Believers are called to follow the instruction that God set forth above in Paul’s and Peter’s letters. FCL’s Men’s Ministry offers teaching that helps men learn the biblical way to be a godly man in a godless culture of “boys” that continually grows more juvenile as society “progresses”.

We hope to help men dive into, and rightly divide God’s Holy Word. Men learning God’s Word with other godly men helps us learn how, by God’s grace, we can serve God, fight against the cultural resistance to pursue righteousness, follow the Word of God, be empowered by the Spirit of God, love one another in gentleness, submit to authority, and fully rely on Jesus, the Lamb of God, to be our sole source of strength, righteousness and salvation.
